A special thanks goes out to TinaK over in the Knots forum for bringing to our attention the above video profile of California woodworker James Krenov, published this week on the Web site of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Fine Woodworking editor David Heim recently traveled to Fort Bragg and had the opportunity to record a video interview with Krenov. We've also written about him a few times in the magazine, most recently with a photo-rich interview by publisher Anatole Burkin. But we can never get enough of the celebrated woodworker, especially as he heads into his golden years.

Handmade Portraits: Woodmosaics

Handmade Portraits: Woodmosaics
Time: 5:37
Submitted by: Tara Young
Producer, Etsy.com

Obviously we're Web video junkies around here at the GlueTube headquarters. If it weren't for our day job we'd waste a lot of time snacking on Cheetos and streaming low-budget video. But while we're somewhat judicious with the play button, we always make time for a new episode of one our favorite video podcasts, the Handmade Portaits series on Etsy.com.

The latest episode is a profile of wood veneer craftsman Robin Tucker, who goes by the name Woodmosaics. You may recall Tucker on GlueTube a few weeks ago when he posted to YouTube a video of his pedal-powered tablesaw as part of a challenge Etsy hosted on its blog. With gritty footage shot in his dark workshop, Tucker explained how he retrofitted an old tablesaw with a pedal-powered motor to cut thin veneer pieces for his mosaics.

The video embedded above, produced by Tara Young as part of Etsy's The Handmade Life series is a more glossy look into the life and work of Tucker.

Behind The Scenes at the New Yankee Shop

Behind the Scenes in the New Yankee Workshop
Time: 3:03
Submitted By: John Dodge, Editor-in-Chief of DesignNews.com
Waltham, Mass.

If you're a Norm Abram fan then we have found your Xanadu.

Browsing around the Web this week we came across a mondo series of videos, audio interviews, photos, and articles that take you behind the scenes of the venerable woodworking television show, The New Yankee Workshop. In what appears to be a marathon session of face time with Norm and his executive producer Russell Morash, Design News editor-in-chief John Dodge takes viewers on a guided tour of Norm's shop (embedded above) and explores a host of topics with the dynamic duo of how-to television.

There are some great gems of information and entertainment packed into the series, including a close-up look at an electric spokeshave, which Norm received in the mail from one of his faithful viewers. Take a look at the Design News Web site for links to all of the videos in the series.

Interview With Wendell Castle

Wendell Castle interview, Part 1
Time: 22:55
Submitted by: Neil Lamens, Furnitology.com
Brookhaven, New York

THIS JUST IN! We couldn't go home for the holiday weekend without posting this great video by our friend and "furnitologist" Neil Lamens, who had the opportunity to interview renowned furniture maker Wendell Castle at the recent Furniture Society conference. Neil is a what one might call a Wendell Castle super-fan -- many of his past episodes have paid tribute to the innovative studio furniture maker -- and as a result is able to reach deep into the brain of his interviewee.

If you're looking for creative inspiration and philosophical views on furniture design, this video is for you.
